Women's cross country runners volunteer at Boston Marathon
BOSTON, MA - As has become tradition for the Wheelock College women's cross country team, a handful of student-athletes volunteered on Monday at the 115th Boston Marathon. Seniors Caitlin Burke (Westboro, MA/Westboro) and Kelly Meehan (Salem, MA/Marblehead), junior Maria Sideri (North Andover, MA/North Andover) and sophomore Cara McAuliffe (Nashua, NH/Nashua South) spent eight hours on Marathon Monday preparing and distributing Gatorade for runners at the finish line while supporting competitors in the world's oldest annual city marathon. The event, which attracted 26,895 entrants and nearly 500,000 spectators, runs within a quarter of a mile of Wheelock's campus.
