Cross country takes second at NECC Championships
CHICOPEE, MA – The Wheelock women’s cross country team notched a second place finish, tying Mitchell College with 70 points, at the New England Collegiate Conference Championships hosted by Elms College Saturday morning. The finish is the highest by a Wheelock team since the NECC was formed in 2008. The Lesley University women’s team won the conference championship, placing all five runners in the top ten.

Runners prepare for final conference showdown
BOSTON, Mass. – Maria Sideri (North Andover, Mass.) and Kelly Meehan (Salem, Mass.) both ran personal bests at last weekend’s Emmanuel Saints Invitational, and the team continues to improve in preparation for next weekend’s New England Collegiate Conference Championships at Elms College in Chicopee, Mass. Harriers enjoy record setting performance
CHICOPEE, MA – Seven members of the cross country team ran personal bests last week en route to a fourth place finish at the Blazers Invitational hosted by Elms College at Chicopee Memorial State Park. Kate Needham (North Conway, NH) again led the Wildcats with a first place finish and career best 22:59, shaving close to a minute off of her former personal best.

Two Wildcats receive NECC honors
BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Milbrey Hendrix (Kennett Square, PA) and Senior Kate Needham (North Conway, NH) both received New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week honors for their respective performances last week.

Wildcats take second, Needham finishes fifth
NASHUA, NH – After a disappointing performance the previous week, the Wheelock cross country team bounced back to take second place in at the Daniel Webster Eagle Invitational, led by Senior Kate Needham (North Conway, NH) who finished fifth overall and second among New England Collegiate Conference runners. Cross Country is set for first conference competition today
BOSTON, Mass. – The Wheelock cross country team will get the first taste of NECC competition today when it travels to New Hampshire for the Daniel Webster College Invitational. The Wildcats finished fourth in the six team competition in 2008. Wheelock is coming off of the first full meet of the season, an eight team field at the Roger Williams Invitational in Bristol, Rhode Island last Saturday. Cross Country team starts strong in Emmanuel Meet
BOSTON, Mass. – The Wheelock cross country team got out to a strong start in Saturday’s short two mile dual meet with Emmanuel College. Senior Kate Needham (North Conway, NH) placed first for the Wildcats and ninth overall with a time of 15:30, while Junior Caitlin Burke (Westborough, MA) took second for Wheelock (16:10), and freshman Cara McAuliffe (Nashua, NH) finished at 16:38 in her first collegiate competition.

Cross country team making strides in 09
BOSTON - After a solid inaugural campaign in 2008, the Wheelock cross country team enters the 2009 season anchored by senior all conference runner Kate Needham (pictured above) and a strong supporting cast. With a core of veterans and promising newcomers, second year head coach Bryan Mahoney holds high expectations for the Wildcats.
