Women's soccer earns fifth sportsmanship honor in seven years
BOSTON, MA - The Wheelock College women's soccer team earned the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Sportsmanship Award for the second time in three years, it was announced on Monday. The Wildcats were honored with their league's sportsmanship award for the fifth time in the past seven seasons after drawing the accolade during three of their final four years in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC).
Wheelock was guided by fourth-year head coach Stephanie Smyrl and a pair of captains in senior Christine Pellerin (Auburn, MA/Auburn) and junior Haley Butler (Yarmouth Port, MA/Dennis-Yarmouth Regional). A defender, Pellerin started all 15 games in which she appeared, while Butler saw time in 11 contests for the Wildcats.
