Wheelock took the early lead near the end of the first half when Lindsey Lacourse (Scarborough, ME) found the top of the net on an indirect kick, giving the Wildcats a 1-0 advantage. The Mariners tied the game less than a minute later when Mitchell freshman Malorie Kieber (Wantagh, NY) tallied her second goal of the season.
The Wildcats regained the lead 11:00 into the second period when Wheelock's Lacourse (Scarborough, ME) found senior Nicole French (Jamaica Plain, MA) in front of the goal for a 2-1 lead, but with 20 minutes to go, Hoxie sailed a pass to Leslie Briggs (Dighton, MA) who tied the game on a shot to the corner of the net.
In overtime, Hoxie scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season after Mitchell won the ball at midfield.
The loss overshadowed a stellar performance by Chiesa, who saved 13 shots for the Wildcats. Mitchell's Rachel Cunningham (New Hartford, CT) and Brittany O'Neil (Old Saybrook, CT) split the time in the net, with O'Neil picking up two saves.
