Drescher Finishes Just Short of Double-Double for Women's Basketball at Daniel Webster

NASHUA, NH - Senior forward Kayla Drescher (Wallingford, CT) just missed posting her first double-double of the season with nine points and nine rebounds for the Wheelock College women's basketball team in a 75-30 loss to host Daniel Webster College in a New England Collegiate Conference contest tonight at Mario Vagge Gymnasium in Nashua, NH.  The Wildcats fall to 0-11 overall and 0-5 in NECC play, while the Eagles improve to 6-5 and 2-2.

Drescher added two assists, two blocks and a steal to her night for Wheelock as well, while sophomore guard Jessica Ramsey (Milford, MA) added eight points in addition to three rebounds and a steal.  Junior guard Kailah Simon (Norwalk, CT) chipped in with six points, five rebounds, a game-high four steals and a pair of assists, while junior guard Sarah McCaffrey (East Taunton, MA) contributed with five points and four rebounds, while committing just one turnover in 32 minutes of action.

Freshman Alyssa Marson (Bangor, ME) came off the bench to knock down a game and career-high 19 points adding five rebounds, three assists and two steals to lead Daniel Webster.  Senior Kirsten Murphy (Woodstock, VT) added 14 points and eight rebounds, senior Alycia Gervais (Windham, CT) notched 13 points and tied for a game high nine rebounds and Jennifer Fredericks (Beacon Falls, CT) scored 11 points and pulled in seven rebounds. 

The Eagles never trailed in the game and jumped out to an 18-7 lead over the opening 12 and a half minutes.  The Wildcats pulled to within 24-13 after a Drescher jumper with 4:09 to go, but the Eagles closed the half with an 8-3 run with layups from Marson, Travis, Fredericks and Gervais to post a 32-16 lead at the break. 

A Drescher jumper early in the second cut the deficit to 16, but the Eagles pulled away with a 12-4 run that ate up the next five minutes and a Travis layup made it a 46-20 game at the 14:05 mark. 

The Eagles head to Becker on Saturday for a NECC matchup beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wheelock travels to Weston, MA for a 1:00 p.m. tilt with conference foe Regis College on Saturday.
