Pitching strong in double-header wins over Newbury

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Stacy Seidner (Pembroke, NH) struck out ten in game one and Freshman Nicole Perullo (Revere, MA) allowed only one run in game two in helping Wheelock to back to back 5-1 wins over Newbury.

Seidner helped her own cause with a 3-4 performance including driving in the game's first run with an RBI single in the first to plate freshman Sarah Negron (Whitinsville, MA). Junior Kristen Brock (Plainville, MA) was also productive for Wheelock, driving in two runs in two runs in the top of the third to put the Wildcats up 5-1.

Junior Elise Ordile (Waltham, MA) went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the second game, to lead Wheelock to another 5-1 victory. The Wildcats shortstop drove in sophomore Nicole Zina (Bristol, RI/Our Lady Fatima) from second to cap a three-run third inning. Two innings later she plated Seidner with the fifth and final Wheelock run.

The Nighthawks were led by junior Jessica Jordan (Stoneham, MA/Stoneham) and Kaila Nicolia (Monroe, CT/Masuk) who went 2-5 and 2-6 on the day, respectively. Jordan drove in Newbury's lone run in the first game with an RBI single in the first inning while Nicolia went 2-for-4 in the second game.

With the loss, Newbury falls to 0-24 (0-10 NECC) on the season while Wheelock improves to 4-15 (4-4 NECC). The Wildcats return to action tomorrow when they host Elms College for an NECC double-header beginning at 1:00 at Pine Manor College.
