Softball award winners named
Boston, Mass. - Head coach Kim Lloyd handed out awards to three student-athletes Sunday night. Amanda Siebert received the Coach's Award, Elise Ordile received the Wildcat Award, and Mary Porter was named the Most Improved Player.

Zina nabs all-conference honors
Attleboro, Mass. - Sophomore Nicole Zina (Bristol, RI) received New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) honorable mention for her performance during the 2009 softball season.

Wildcats fall to Lesley, heading for playoffs
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. The Wheelock College softball team battled regular season champion Lesley University tough Sunday afternoon, but fell in both ends of a double-header, 1-0 and 5-1. Despite the losses, the Wildcats have secured the sixth seed in the New England Collegiate Conference and will head to Mitchell College Tuesday afteroon for the first round of playoffs.

Nashua, NH - Nicole Zina (pictured) cracked a two-out, two-run single in the top of the eighth inning Wednesday night to propel Wheelock to a 7-5 win over conference rival Daniel Webster.

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Niki Rapsis attempts to turn a double play against Newbury in the second game of Saturday's double-header. The Wildcats benefitted from timely hitting and solid pitching to take both games.

Bats are hot, defense struggles in losses to Mount Ida
Newton, Mass. The Wheelock softball team carried a one run lead into the bottom of the sixth inning in game one of a double-header with Mount Ida College, but the Mustangs responded with three runs to pull off the 4-2 win Tuesday afternoon. In game two, the Wildcats battled back from deficits of four runs and two runs before falling in the bottom of the seventh, 12-11.

Wildcat bats quiet in losses to Mitchell
NEW LONDON, Conn. - Wheelock senior Stacy Seidner (Pembroke, NH) scattered seven hits over seven innings and gave up only one earned run, but the Wildcat bats were silent as Wheelock fell 2-0 to Mitchell College in the first game of a double-header Monday afternoon.

Bay Path sweeps Wheelock in conference play
Chestnut Hill, Mass. Bay Path College used the long ball in the first game and timely hitting in the second to take both ends of a double-header with Wheelock College on Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference play. The Wildcats won the first game 8-2 behind the pitching of Kristal Cormier (Rochester, NH), and took the second 13-4, in a five inning win from Jess Nizinski (West Springfield, MA). Wheelock's Nicole Zina (pictured above), hit her first career home run in game two.

Wheelock sweeps Becker in first NECC contest
Leicester, Mass. The Wheelock College Wildcats notched their first victories in the newly formed New England Collegiate Conference Saturday, defeating Becker College in both ends of a double-header, 1-2 and 9-7.
