Emilio Zamalloa carries nearly two decades of experience in tennis instruction while entering his second year as head coach of the Wheelock men's tennis team in 2012. The fourth-year squad matched the program mark for league wins in 2011 while qualifying student-athletes for a school-record eight of nine flights at the conference championship.
In addition to his duties at Wheelock, Zamalloa has been a tennis instructor in the Boston area since 2001, serving under master pro Doug Eng as the head pro for adult programs at the Tennis Academy at Harvard University while working as a tennis pro at the Harvard Business School and for the institution's department of athletics.
Zamalloa previously gained his tennis pro experience in New Jersey, where he worked two years for the Rutgers University Recreation Department before spending five years with master pro Marvin Benzing of the Maywood Tennis Club. Between 1991 and 1993, Zamalloa was involved with the Ashe-Bollettieri Cities (ABC) Program, which offered free tennis instruction and academic support to at-risk youths in Newark. The organization was co-founded by three-time Grand Slam champion Arthur Ashe and Nick Bollettieri, who has coached 10 players ranked No. 1 in the world during his career.
A mathematics teacher in the Boston Public Schools system since 2004, Zamalloa earned two degrees from Harvard, including his bachelor's in social sciences and a master's in mathematics for teaching. Zamalloa has been certified as a professional by the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), and is a lifetime member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). Zamalloa also frequently offers clinics as a visiting tennis pro at top resorts in the Caribbean.

A two-year member of the Wheelock men's tennis team, Jessi Ritucci returns to her alma mater for her second season as an assistant coach. Ritucci, who graduated in 2010, earned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference laurels as a senior.
