Wildcats fall to Anna Maria
PAXTON, Mass. - Wilson Chang (Lee, MA) and Anya Pagala (Garnerville, NY)won their respective singles matches, but the Wildcats fell to Anna Maria 8-2 Monday evening.Freshmen Adam Williamson (Spencer, Mass.) and Haakim Ferguson (Boston, Mass.) each won their singles and doubles matches to lead the Anna Maria College men's tennis team to a 7-2 victory over Wheelock College at the Paxton Sports Centre on Wednesday evening. For the AMCATS, the win was the second of their inaugural season, improving their record to 2-8 overall. With the loss, the Wildcats remain winless at 0-6.
The Amcats won four of the six singles matches as Williamson, Fergusen, and Kadeem Brown (Worcester, Mass.) all defeated their opponents in straight sets. AMC sophomore Jesus Torres (Southbridge, Mass.) collected the other victory by way of forfeit. For the Wildcats, Sophomore Wilson Chang (Lee, Mass.) won his singles match 6-2, 6-3, while Anya Pagala fought hard to win in a tie breaker 6-3, 1-6, 12-10.
Anna Maria went on to sweep all three doubles matches as Mike Dandurand(Warwick, R.I.) and Adam Williamson combined for a 8-6 victory and the duo of Brown and Ferguson won 8-3. Jesus Torres and freshman Joshua Proulx (Southbridge, Mass.) took the third doubles match by forfeit.
The Wildcats will play again on Thursday, traveling to face Mitchell College at 3:30 pm. The amcats will take the court again on Tuesday, battling Clark University on the road starting at 3:30 pm.
