Wildcats finish stretch of three games in five days, Kashouh stops 21

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The Wheelock College men's soccer team finished off a season-opening run of three games in five days on Wednesday against Albertus Magnus College at Pine Manor College's Hedley Field, where the visitors picked up an 8-0 victory. The Wildcats moved to 0-3 on the year, while the Falcons improved to 3-1.

Junior Victor Kashouh (Providence, RI/Classical) turned away 21 shots for the hosts, with 11 coming in the second stanza. Wheelock nearly broke up the shutout late in the contest when freshman Zach Bushway's (Bethlehem, NH/Profile) point-blank attempt was denied, and classmate Matt Pennucci's (Leominster, MA/Concord-Carlisle Regional) follow-up try was pushed wide right of the frame.

Seven different Falcons scored, led by junior Jamal Howard's (West Haven, CT/West Haven) pair of markers and one assist. Senior Matt Siperas (North Haven, CT/North Haven) and sophomore Jacob Weisslender (New Haven, CT/Wilbur Cross) added a goal and a helper each. Freshman keeper Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, CT/Naugatuck) made two saves.

Albertus Magnus netted the winner 2:16 into the contest, as Kashouh nearly batted down the hard point-blank blast. The Falcons' second and third markers went to opposite sides of the net, with the keeper turning in an outstretched dive to narrowly miss each. The fourth goal of the contest hit under the crossbar and in during the 33rd minute. The visitors built upon their lead with three goals in a 4:33 stretch to pull away during the final 30 minutes of the contest.

Wheelock breaks until Monday, when it heads to Suffolk University for a 4 p.m. game.
