Men’s soccer team prepares for inaugural season

BOSTON, Mass. - The past three years have included a series of firsts for the Wheelock College athletic department, and next Monday will be another, when the men's soccer team takes on Suffolk University in the first NCAA men's soccer game in college history. The soccer program is the fourth men's varsity sport to be offered at Wheelock since 2006, and the college now boasts nine men's and women's varsity programs.

The soccer team will be led by Sercan Fenerci, a two year assistant coach for the Wildcat basketball team.

"I am very excited about the Wildcats' opportunity to have a very respectable season this year," Fenerci said. "Even though we are in our first year, the student athletes we have on our roster are very competitive and want to do well to represent Wheelock."

Members of the Wheelock community will get the opportunity to see the Wildcat team in action on September 20 when the team takes on New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) rival Southern Vermont College at 1:00 pm at Pine Manor College.
