Wheelock College names first ever head coach for Men's Soccer

Boston, Mass. - Wheelock College Director of Athletics Diana Cutaia has announced the hiring of Sercan Fenerci as the first head coach of the newly formed men's varsity soccer program.

Coach Fenerci brings to this position a life-long love of soccer and a familiarity with the commitment required to get a new program off the ground, having spent the past two years at Wheelock as an assistant to men's basketball head coach John Preziosa. The men's basketball team, established at Wheelock in 2007, won their first playoff game in team history during the 2008-2009 season, and Coach Fenerci played a crucial role in the team's success.

"I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity to coach the Wheelock College men's soccer team," said Fenerci.  "This is a great opportunity that a lot of young coaches would like to have. I am very proud to join one of the best college athletic departments in the region. I will do my best to represent Wheelock College and its athletics in a very professional manner on and off the field."

Prior to arriving at Wheelock, Coach Fenerci worked most recently, as an assistant soccer coach at Halit Armay High School in his native Istanbul, Turkey. While there, the team won the regional championship and finished in the national elite eight.

Coach Fenerci received his Bachelor's Degree of Business Administration in Management Information Systems from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas.
