Wildcats play tough defense in first game
SOMERVILLE, Mass. - The Wheelock men's soccer team played the first ever NCAA varsity match in school history Monday night, fall 8-0 to Suffolk University at Dillboy Stadium. Despite the offensive output of the Rams, Wheelock sophomore goalkeeper Victor Kashouh (Providence, RI) recorded 29 saves, the most of any NCAA Division III men's soccer goalkeeper since 2007, and is tied for the 15th most in one game by a single player.
Sophomore Max Kaim (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) recorded the first shot on goal for the Wildcats, though much of the time was spent on defense had six different players with goals and 64 shots on the evening.
The first goal came 79 seconds into the game, as freshman Ben Rollins (Lee, NH) scored on a nice cross pass from sophomore Danny Lloyd (Tegucigalpa, Honduras). Senior Arman Palian (Belmont, MA) finished the game with two goals and two assists, while junior Luis Flores (Madrid, Spain) also put home a pair of goals. Senior Bernhard Lotterer (Lima, Peru) had a goal and two assists for the Rams.
The Wildcats will be back in action again as they battle Elms College on Saturday, with the a home game to follow on Sunday against Southern Vermont.
