Wildcats fall to Newbury in conference action

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Shaundize Moosavizadeh (Winchester, Mass.) and Nicholas Sehovich (Pellham, NH) each scored a pair of goals Saturday afternoon to lead Newbury College to a 4-1 win over Wheelock College in New England Collegiate Conference action. The win improves the Nighthawks to 2-1 in the conference, while the Wildcats continue searching for the first victory in program history. (Right: J.J. Newbury created a number of scoring opportunities before Moosavizadeh materialized one of those chances into a goal fifteen minutes into the first period. The freshman midfielder broke away from a group of defenders and nailed a shot past a diving Victor Kashouh (Providence, RI) to give Newbury the 1-0 advantage.

Sehovich expanded that lead to 2-0 at the 41:49 mark when he chipped in a pass from Hayato Iwahori (Tokyo, Japan). Wheelock cut the score in half at 59:21 when sophomore forward Max Kaim (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) scored his third goal of the season on a pass from Francisco Perez-Turcois (Boston, Mass.).

Newbury netted an insurance goal off the foot of Sehovich only minutes later when Hector Abudoj laced a pass through the defense to make the score 3-1. Moosavizadeh scored his second goal at the 72:12 mark to set the final score.

Kashouh recorded 11 saves in the loss for Wheelock, while Steven Gratta (Hull, Mass.) recorded two saves for the win. The Wildcats return to action next Thursday at Lesley while the Nighthawks take on Lesley on Tuesday.
