John Preziosa was hired to coach the first Wheelock men's
basketball team in 2007. Preziosa coached the 2007-2008 team to
their first victory in school history, an exciting 65-63 win over
Eastern Nazarene College. The team also received the North Atlantic
Conference Team Sportsmanship Award under Preziosa's direction in
2007.
Prior to coming to Wheelock, Preziosa spent two years as an
assistant coach and associate head coach at Salem State
College, where he helped lead the team to a 44-10
record. Preziosa also spent three seasons as the head basketball
coach at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston, leading the team
to their first ever Region XXI Championship in 2005 and first ever
national tournament appearance, finishing eighth in the
country.
While at Bunker Hill, Preziosa compiled a 51-28 record over three
seasons, earning NJCAA District 8 Coach of the Year honors in 2005.
He also coached the Northeast Boy's team to a bronze medal in the
2006 Bay State Summer Games and a silver medal in 2007.
Preziosa played for Bunker Hill Community College from 1990 to
1992, earning the Most Improved Player Award in 1992. He resides in
Melrose, Massachusetts with his wife, Gina, and
sons, Marino and Gino.
