Robbins leads strong group of returners for the Wildcats

Boston, Mass. - The Wheelock College Men's basketball program enters the 2008-09 campaign hoping to improve and build around a core group of returners from the program's inaugural season.

Second year head coach John Preziosa will be looking towards the leadership of 6'5" tri-captain Junior,  Sherard Robbins (Malden, Mass).  Robbins is looking to follow up on a very strong sophomore season for Wheelock where he averaged 20.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. Robbins was voted on to the North Atlantic Conference 2nd team for his efforts last year.

Also looking to build on a solid freshman season will be 6'3 wing Dan Main (Hopedale, Mass.), Main saw action as a starter in 22 out of 24 games last season averaging 7.0 ppg.

Sophomore Tri Captain point guard  Emilio Matos (Scituate, RI) looks to pick up where he left off last season, averaging 26 minutes per game while also ranking at the top of the NAC in steals for most of the year.

Also looking to compete for minutes will be 6'1" sophomore David Tavares (Dedham, Ma), Tavares had a season high 13 points in Wheelock's first win in program history over Eastern Nazarene College (65-63).

Returning to the fold looking to build upon a consistent freshman season will be 5'11" guard Patsy Dinuzzo (Beaver, PA). Dinuzzo shot 82% from the free throw line, and also serves as tri-captain.

After seeing the first half of his season affected by injury/illness, 6'4" F/C Dan Puchala (Millbury, MA) will look to be a more consistent presence on the floor this season.

All home games are played at Pine Manor College, with the first home game falling on November 18 against Anna Maria.
