Wildcats edge Eagles in defensive battle

NASHUA, NH - Freshman Rachel Robohm's (North Easton, Mass.) goal with 4:50 remaining in the first half stood up as the eventual game winner as Wheelock edged host Daniel Webster, 1-0 in a NECC field hockey matchup Saturday at Harvey Woods Field. The win ensures Wheelock consecutive appearances in the NECC playoffs. (Right: Freshman Despina Savvoulides.)

Robohm's fourth goal of the season came as part of a penalty corner set up Kara Widdison (Greenfield, Mass.) and Chelsey Ballard (Mansfield, Mass.) to give the Wildcats (4-9, 4-2 NECC), their fourth win in their last six outings.

Amy Prince (Hope Valley, R.I.) made three saves for the second-year Eagles (5-6, 3-4 NECC), while Wheelock goalie Meredith Race (Marion, Mass.) made no saves.

The game was a defensive battle throughout as the teams combined for just five total shots.

The Eagles return to action closing out a three-game home stand when they host Lasell Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Wheelock visits Elms Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
