Wheelock student athletes participate in the Little Dresses for Africa project
BOSTON, Mass. Members of the winter and spring Wheelock Athletic teams joined together to help make dresses on Tuesday night as part of the Little Dresses for Africa project. Student athletes, along with members of the Boston Association for the Education of Young Children (BAEYC) partnered together to cut, alter, and sew the dresses, which are made out of pillow cases. Students recognized at annual banquet
BOSTON, Mass. The largest graduating class of senior athletes was honored Sunday evening at the 17th Annual Athletic Banquet. 19 athletes, including the first male senior athletes to gradate Wheelock were recognized for their commitment to Wheelock athletics. Wheelock student-athletes, faculty, and staff were also honored. Among those recognized were the womens soccer team, who received the Presidents Cup for achieving highest team grade point average.

Tennis ends with win and Sportsmanship Award
BOSTON, Mass. - Behind Senior Kate Needhams gutsy three set victory at #3 singles, the Wheelock Wildcats pulled out a 5-4 win over Newbury College Friday afternoon. In a match that spanned three days due to weather, Wheelock jumped out to a 2-1 lead after number one doubles where Wilson Chang and Bobby Venning teamed to win, 8-5.

Tennis shut out by Mitchell in conference action
BOSTON, Mass. - The Wheelock men's tennis team played hard but fell to a very tough Mitchell squad 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at Winsor tennis courts. The win drops Wheelock to 1-9 on the season while Mitchell College remains undefeated at 10-0. The Mariners already clenched the New England Collegiate Conference title with a win earlier this week.

Timely hitting leads Eagles past Wildcats

Robbins selected for New England All-Star Game

Tennis falls to UMass Boston in tough battle
BOSTON, Mass. Sophomore Bobby Venning (Greenfield, NH) defeated Himanshu Dubey in three sets (6-1, 3-6, 6-3) in number two singles last night, but it was the only singles victory as the Wheelock tennis team fell to UMass Boston 7-2 at Winsor Field. Senior Jessi Ritucci (Holliston, Mass.) pushed Brian Sou to three sets in number five singles, but fell in the final set 4-6.

Wildcats rally for ten inning win, fall in game two
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. Nicole Perullo (Revere, Mass) nailed a single to center field to drive in Elise Ordile (Waltham, Mass.) in the bottom of the tenth inning to propel the Wheelock softball team to a 6-5 win in the first game of a double-header Saturday afternoon. The Newbury Nighthawks came back in game two however, downing the Wildcats 15-4 behind two hit performances from freshman Sarah Young (Waterloo, NY) and sophomore Ariel Ross (Gales Ferry, Conn.).

Field hockey team inspires good with Walk 4 Haiti
BOSTON, Mass. The Wheelock College field hockey team, together with the athletic department, organized and sponsored the first Wildcat Walk 4 Haiti 5K, raising close to $1,000 for the American Red Cross: Haiti Relief & Development Fund. In addition, a $1000 worth of gifts, donations, and discounts helped to provide water, Gatorade, snacks, and food for the event as well as a gift of 200 event t-shirts, donated by a family member of the field hockey team.

Field Hockey sponsors Walk 4 Haiti
At this past January 2010 All-Student Athlete meeting, the Wheelock College student-athletes en masse, voted to take forward the Wildcats Walk For Haiti. The idea came out of a brainstorming session of the newly re-elected/appointed field hockey captains for Fall 2010. Since then, two appointed captains have engaged the team to brainstorm, create design, research, and make calls to create the framework for this event.

Leicester, Mass.- The Wheelock men's basketball team came within 50 seconds of advancing to the New England Collegiate Conference Championship game, but a four free-throws in the last minute of play helped the Elms Blazers secure the 66-62 win to advance to tomorrow's finale against Becker College.

Preview of semi-final game against Elms College
BOSTON, Mass. With a convincing 95-67 win over Daniel Webster College in the New England Collegiate College Quarterfinals the Wheelock mens basketball team advances to the conference semi-finals for the second year in a row. Last season the Wildcats defeated Mitchell College in the quarter-finals, only to fall to eventual tournament champions Elms College in the second round of the playoffs. Friday night, head coach John Preziosas team will have another shot at the Blazers.

LEICESTER, Mass. - Becker College is the host of the 2009-2010 New England Collegiate Conference Final Four championship tournament. A fan bus will depart from 37 Pilgrim Road on Firday night at 6:00 pm. Students must sign up in the student life office by noon on Friday. Should the Wildcats advance to Saturday's championship game, a fan bus will depart from the same location at 12:30 pm.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. After splitting the season series in games that were decided by a total of six points, Tuesday nights New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) quarterfinal matchup between number three Wheelock College and number six Daniel Webster promised to be a nail-biter. But Wheelock shot over fifty percent from the field and had two players with over 20 points en route to a 95-67 win over the Eagles in front of a packed house at Pine Manor College.

There were few spots on the court where Daniel Webster guard Chris Hanson (Salem, Mass.) couldnt make a shot, as the juniors 28 points led the Eagles to a 75-71 win over Wheelock College in New England Collegiate Conference action. Hanson was 7-14 from behind the arc and 9-16 from the floor to match Wheelock senior forward Sherard Robbins (Malden, Mass.) who was 11-15 for 28 points as well.

Robbins named NECC Player of the Week
PLAYER OF THE WEEK Wheelock College senior forward Sherard Robbins (Malden, Mass.) sparked the Wildcats to a 2-0 week, defeating Lesley 65-55 and Elms 87-82 in overtime action. Robbins who comes off last weeks 1,000 point milestone nailed two double-double performances including 29 points and 15 rebounds in a barn burner against the Blazers. He averaged 25.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and 0.5 steals. For the week, Robbins shot 56% (20-for-36) from the field and 73% (11-for-15) from the free-throw line.

Wildcats survive late Lesley surge for win
CHESNTUT HILL, Mass. - The Wheelock College mens basketball team survived a late second half surge to pull out the win over NECC rival Lesley University 65-55 Thursday night at Pine Manor College. The Wildcats looked to be cruising to their third win in a row, leading by 27 points with 5:52 remaining in regulation, but the Lynx, led by Senior captain Alexander Green III (Baton Rouge, La.)went on a 21-4 run to set the final score. Green scored 12 of his team-high 18 points during the run, as well as notching two steals and a three assists.

Donate your lightly used shoes
BOSTON, Mass. Wheelock athletics is currently sponsoring a shoe drive in support of the Soles 4 Souls organization, a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies as well as from individuals to donate to those who have been affected by disaster. The Wildcats are collecting lightly used shoes that will be donated to Project Haiti in an effort to provide shoes for the survivors of the Haitian earthquake.

Robbins and Brown reach milestones
BOSTON, Mass. The names of Sarah Brown and Sherard Robbins were etched into the Wheelock record books over the past two weeks, as the two senior basketball stars scored the 1,000th point of their respective careers just three days apart. Robbins reached his mark during a home win against Southern Vermont College, becoming the first mens basketball player to reach the milestone, while Brown drilled a triple at Becker College to become only the third womens player to do so.

PAXTON, Mass. Kayla Drescher (Wallingford, Conn.) was the star for Wheelock Tuesday night, scoring nine points and grabbing 11 rebounds, but the Wildcats fell to Anna Maria College 52-31 in the first game of the new year. Anna Maria was paced by Samantha Ashtons 16 points, 13 rebounds, five blocks four assists, and four 3-pointers, to improve the AMCATS to 7-4 overall, while Wheelock drops to 0-6.

Rockin' Robbins
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. Senior Sherard Robbins (Malden, Mass.) scored a game-high 26 points while grabbing 16 rebounds to lead the Wheelock College Wildcats to a convincing 72-57 win over Endicott College Saturday afternoon. Robbins was 9-16 from the floor and a perfect 8-8 from the free-throw line as Wheelock improved to 5-2 on the season while Endicott fell to 3-6. Sophomore Max Kaim (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and junior Dan Main were also in double-digits for head coach John Preziosa, with 17 and ten points, respectively.

Dinuzzo has career night despite loss to Curry

Holliday scores 15 in season opener
Wheelock guard Joy Holliday scored a team-high 15 points, but she was the only Wildcat in double-digits as the Wildcats fell to the United States Coast Guard Academy 54-34 Tuesday night. Mens soccer receives sportsmanship award
ATTLEBORO, Mass. The Wheelock mens soccer team, led by head coach Sercan Fenerci, were honored as the 2009 NECC Team Sportsmanship Award recipients. Goalkeeper Victor Kashouh (Providence, RI) received All-Conference honorable mention for his performance this season. In his first season playing the sport, Kashouh led the conference in saves, with 164 in 11 games, averaging almost 15 per contest. The sophomore made history in his first game, when he recorded 29 saves against Suffolk University which ties him for 15th all-time in NCAA Division III mens soccer.

ATTLEBORO, Mass.-The 2008 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) champions, Becker College has claimed the top seed for the 2009 New England Collegiate Conference Field Hockey Championship, which begins with semifinal matchups on campus sites Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The Hawks (11-8 overall) earned the top spot in the upcoming NECC tournament after posting a perfect 8-0 conference record for the second straight season.

BOSTON, Mass. To say that goalkeeper Victor Kashouh (Providence, RI) was impressive in his first game for the Wheelock mens soccer team is an understatement. Though the Wildcats fell 9-0 to Suffolk University in the first mens soccer game in school history, Kashouh recorded 29 saves; the most by a goalkeeper in NCAA Division III mens soccer since 2007 and tied for 15th in the history of Division III mens soccer.

Wheelock College names first ever head coach for Men's Soccer
Boston, Mass. - Wheelock College Director of Athletics Diana Cutaia has announced the hiring of Sercan Fenerci as the first head coach of the newly formed men's varsity soccer program.
Coach Fenerci brings to this position a life-long love of soccer and a familiarity with the commitment required to get a new program off the ground, having spent the past two years at Wheelock as an assistant to men's basketball head coach John Preziosa. The men's basketball team, established at Wheelock in 2007, won their first playoff game in team history during the 2008-2009 season, and Coach Fenerci played a crucial role in the team's success.

Boston, Mass. Wheelock student-athletes, faculty, and staff were honored Sunday night at the 16th Annual Athletic Banquet. Among those recognized was the womens soccer team, who received the Presidents Cup for achieving highest team grade point average.

Willy the Wildcat promotes physical activity and healthy eating
A new childrens book starring Willy the Wildcat details the story of Willy and his family being physically active and eating healthy. Members of the Wheelock Athletic Department are going to be visiting all of the Jumpstart sites and giving the book to the students along with fitness packs created by the athletic department.

Bay Path sweeps Wheelock in conference play
Chestnut Hill, Mass. Bay Path College used the long ball in the first game and timely hitting in the second to take both ends of a double-header with Wheelock College on Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference play. The Wildcats won the first game 8-2 behind the pitching of Kristal Cormier (Rochester, NH), and took the second 13-4, in a five inning win from Jess Nizinski (West Springfield, MA). Wheelock's Nicole Zina (pictured above), hit her first career home run in game two.

Leicester, Mass. The Wheelock College Wildcats notched their first victories in the newly formed New England Collegiate Conference Saturday, defeating Becker College in both ends of a double-header, 1-2 and 9-7.

Chestnut Hill, Mass. The Wheelock College mens basketball team survived a tremendous second half from Mitchell College to advance to the second round of the New England Collegiate Conference playoffs with a 105-91 win over the Mariners in front of a packed house at Pine Manor College Tuesday night.

McAuliffe, Chaffee come up big for Wildcats in conference play
Boston, MA Kelsey McAuliffe (Groveland, MA) and Jill Chaffee (Bridgewater, MA) each scored a pair of goals Saturday afternoon as the Wheelock Wildcats defeated Bay Path College 5-1 in conference action. The win leaves Wheelock with a 4-4 record in the NECC, while Bay Path drops to 0-8 in their inaugural season of play.

Senior Alanna Dias (Swansea, MA) stepped up big for the Wheelock Wildcats, netting two goals and an assist to help lead her team to a 9-2 win over Southern Vermont College Sunday in NECC play. Fellow senior Stacy Seidner (Pembroke, NH) also had a pair of goals and an assist, while Leah Spector (Madison, CT), the third in the graduating class, helped win the ball at midfield numerous times, as the Wildcats outshot the Mountaineers 39 to 3.

Shute makes smooth transition to defense
Kelsey McAuliffe (Groveland, MA) scored two goals against Elms College, but it wasnt enough to propel the wildcats to victory as the team fell 4-2 in conference action. Wheelock outshot the blazers 17-8, with 12 of those shots coming in the second half. Julie Kilcoyne (Sterling, MA) and Kylie Hefford (Exeter, NH) each had an assist in the effort.
