NECC championship preview

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wheelock field hockey team will battle for their first conference championship tomorrow afternoon when the team travels to Leicester, Mass. to take on Becker College. It’s been ten years since a field hockey team competed for a championship; in 1999 the Wildcats were runners up when members of the North Atlantic Conference.

Wildcats advance to conference championship

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Kara Widdison (Greenfield, Mass.) scored the game winning goal while lying on her stomach in the 82nd minute of play to lift Wheelock College to a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory over Daniel Webster College in the semi-final round of the New England Collegiate Conference playoffs Tuesday night at Winsor Field. With the win, Wheelock advances to Saturday afternoon’s championship match-up with Becker College, who defeated Elms College 4-0 on Tuesday evening. Field hockey to host Daniel Webster Tuesday

ATTLEBORO, Mass.-The 2008 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) champions, Becker College has claimed the top seed for the 2009 New England Collegiate Conference Field Hockey Championship, which begins with semifinal matchups on campus sites Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The Hawks (11-8 overall) earned the top spot in the upcoming NECC tournament after posting a perfect 8-0 conference record for the second straight season.

CHICOPEE, Mass. - Sophomore cross country runner Maria Sideri picked a perfect day to record her new personal best. The North Andover native recorded a time of 25:01, which placed her third on the team.
