Kyoungho Koh enters her second season as the head field hockey
coach for the Wheelock Wildcats.
Koh took over the reigns of the program in August of 2008 and
immediately guided the team to its first win in the newly formed
New England Collegiate Conference, a 5-0 win over Bay Path College.
A thrilling 3-2 victory over conference rival Elms College helped
propel Wheelock to a 4-4 conference mark and an appearance in the
NECC playoffs.
Under Koh, Wheelock tied for first in the NECC in defensive saves
with 11 on the season. The Wildcats finished second in saves and
assists and were third in goals scored. Freshman Kylie Hefford was
named to the NECC All-Conference First team for defense and two
players were named to the NECC All-Tournament Team.
Prior to arriving at Wheelock, Koh served as the head field hockey
coach at Simmons College from 1993-1995 where her teams posted a
winning percentage of .630 (29-17) with three consecutive
invitations to the Massachusetts State Championships. After
departing Simmons, Koh began to develop her work experience in
higher education, non-profit, and corporate environments. During
this time, she completed her Master's Degree in Counseling
Psychology at Boston College while staying connected to field
hockey as a volunteer assistant coach at Massachusetts Institute of
Technology in Cambridge, MA and Union College in Schenectady,
NY.
As a student, Koh played both field hockey and lacrosse at
Division I Dartmouth College. In field hockey, Koh played on
back-to-back Ivy Championship teams her junior and senior year, at
which time she also received First Team All-Ivy honors. In her
senior year, Koh was recognized as an All-American by the National
Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). In lacrosse, Koh played
goalkeeper on back-to-back Ivy Championship teams in her freshman
and sophomore years.
