Patrick Golden, who joined the Wheelock Athletics staff in September 2010, was promoted to a full-time position as an athletics assistant in December 2010. He is heavily involved with such departmental efforts as student-athlete compliance and game-day operations.
Golden most recently worked in marketing and event operations for the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) during the 2010 season after serving as a coach with the Greensboro (N.C.) College football team in 2009. From 2005 to 2007, Golden was a football coaching staff assistant for Division I Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. He gained athletic administration experience at both Bucknell and Greensboro, engaging in such areas as student-athlete academic welfare, recruiting and video breakdown.
In 2002, Golden interned for the National Football League's (NFL) San Diego Chargers, providing assistance in the areas of game-day operations and equipment maintenance. As an undergraduate at Division I University of Massachusetts, he was involved with football recruiting, opponent scouting and game-day management all four years before earning a bachelor's degree in political science in 2005. He completed his master's work in education at Bucknell in 2007.
A native of Saugus, Golden was the assistant director of admissions at Bay State College in Boston during the 2007-08 school year before serving as a special education teaching assistant at Lynnfield High School the following school year. In 2009-10, Golden worked with students facing academic challenges at Roosevelt Elementary School in Melrose.
