Wilson Chang - Men's Tennis

1. What is your major?

I am double majoring in Math/Science and Psychology.

2. What is it about your field of study that intrigues you? 

I first started with Math/Science because I really enjoy working with number and sciences really interest me because there is always something new you can discover. When I became a sophomore and took more Psychology classes I felt that I was really interested in that field and want to go to grad school for it.

3. Favorite athletic moment at Wheelock?

My favorite athletic moment was my freshmen year my doubles partner and I won the NAC first doubles conference flight tournament up at USM (University of Southern Maine). We were the 4th seed and ended up taking out the 1st seed SMU in the semi finals and beating the 2nd seed Becker in the finals.

4. People will be surprised to know . . .

I like to watch plays such as Shakespeare play and Broadway plays. My favorite plays I have seen in Broadway is Wicked and Lion King on Broadway.

5. Describe your sport in 3 words?

Mental, Physical, Challenging

6. What goes through your head as you are "at match point", at the free throw line, during a race, etc.?

 “One more point”, “Stay focused” , and “Go all out on this point”

 7. Favorite part about being a student-athlete at Wheelock?

My favorite part about being a student-athlete at Wheelock is I get to continue my Tennis and soccer career at a higher competitive level.

 8. Favorite quote?

9.  Favorite food?

It is hard to have a favorite food since my mom owns a restaurant and I love everything she cooks.  One of my favorite Dessert she invented is Coconut Flan

 10. Best part about living in Boston?

My favorite part of living in Boston is definitely the T. The T brings you to all the places you need to go in Boston and makes it look like everything is so close to you.

 11. If you could bring anything from your hometown what would it be?

I would bring my mother’s restaurant so everyone could taste the food that she cooks. Also so I can eat my mom’s cooking of course.

 12. If you had no schoolwork what would you do all day?

On a beautiful day like this I would probably spend my day outside playing Frisbee or go for a walk

  13. What story would you tell your children about Wheelock Athletics?

I would tell them how I was able to get an opportunity to go experience a National Division  III Leadership conference and meet all the leaders from all the difference conferences in the different states.

 14. Where do you get your motivation from when things get tough?

I draw motivations from people around me especially when I play sports like soccer or tennis. When things get hard get all the motivation from the crowds it does not matter if they are from the opponent’s school if I am away at their school to play a match. It motivates me to put up a good fight and win.

  15. What would you like to achieve most in your life?

I eventually want to become a tennis coach. So I want to go get my professional license to coach. I also want to go to grad school for psychology.
