Major: A double major in social work and juvenile justice. What made you want to major in that? I really wanted to do social work, because I always found it interesting, but when I looked into Wheelock, I kept noticing juvenile justice. With my experience living in the city, I really wanted to help the teens that were involved in the system. I knew that coming to Wheelock I was able to build on my plan. What do you think you want to do as a career? I really want to work in a jail. I would love to do that.
Nickname: Nicknames, no. Everybody just calls you Janel or Lynch? Nobody calls you Lynchy or anything like that? No, not really. Lynchtastic!
What do you like most about Wheelock? I like a lot of things about Wheelock. I think the small school is like a little community. You know everybody. Get to know everyone. I like a lot of things. I like it all.
Where is your favorite place on
campus? I think I really like CCSR.
What do you like about it? It's up-to-date,
there's always a lot of people there, it's always exciting, there's
always something you can expect or see at CCSR. So,
it's like Vegas then, always exciting.
What is your favorite sports team? Celtics.
Who is your favorite athlete? Usain Bolt. When did you become a fan of his, was it the Olympics? I think probably back then. I always watch those with my family and him being from where my family was born and being such a great athlete, I fell in love with him. Where is your family originally from? Mandeville, Jamaica.
What is something that most people don’t know about you? I think I come off shy, but I'm really loud and outgoing.
Where is your favorite vacation spot? I think anywhere in the Carribbean.
What accomplishment are you most proud of in your sport? I guess just getting to learn more about the sport and being involved is a good accomplishment. Just being active.
What is your favorite holiday? Christmas, because you're already expecting something or you always know what to give. People are always happy.
Bacon bits or croutons? Croutons. I love croutons! Why do you love croutons? They're just so tasty.
Would you rather live in a log cabin or downtown? Downtown. Why downtown? It's lively. There's always something going on. You can't be bored.
What does community service mean to you? Helping or donating time. Have you done any community service projects in the past? Yeah, I usually do community service. I count community service as Walk for Hunger. I've worked at shelters feeding the homeless, working with homeless children. I've done community service a the Mattahunt also, recenty.
Do you have any pets? I had a dog, but my Mom gave him away. He was my best friend. What kind of dog did you have? A Boxer. What was its name? Justice. How long did you have Justice? For like a year and a half or close to two years.
What is your favorite movie or movies? "Love and Basketball" and "Prison Song".
What is your favorite artist or band? I think my favorite band will always be TLC. I was just thinking of them recently. I was thinking what a left-handed compliment the song "Baby, Baby, Baby" is, where she says, "I could have any man I want to, but I choose you"...Really? Thanks for letting me know that you could have anyone, but you choose me. Really makes a guy feel good.
Favorite pre-game song to get pumped up? In Paris by Jay-Z and Kanye.
Pepsi or Coke? Coke. Diet Coke. Diet always tastes better than the regular for some reason. Why do you like it so much? Well, I'm not really a big soda fan, but if I were to drink soda, it would be Diet Coke. I just find it tastes better than regular.
Favorite Cereal? Frosted Flakes. Is it because of the Tiger? Probably, he attracts attention, but it taste great. It tastes what? It tastes great. Yummy. Are you sure it doesn't taste grrrreeat!
What is your favorite city or town? I don't think I have a favorite city.
What is your favorite ice cream? Grapenut. Grapenut? And you're not over 65 and you like that? It's really good! Where do you get your grapenut ice cream? There's this place in Mattapan, it's like a Jamaican restaurant, and they have these big cartons. Me and my Mom always go and take a lot home.
How many foreign countries have you been to? I think only like two. China and Japan. Wow, China and Japan! When, why, how? My sophomore year, I was really involved with the afterschool program at the Boys and Girls Club, which was right down the street from my house. I've always been there since I was six. I joined the program to go to Japan for two weeks. You got to take classes for like two years to learn about the culture and everything, but you don't have to pay for the trip. You just paid $25 for some kind of fee. The trip's all paid for from funding. So, I went and we had a layover and took some time in China and explored. Then we spent two weeks in Japan.
If it could rain something other than rain, what would
it rain? Money. Why
money? Because then I wouldn't have to go to work
and I could go shopping all the time.
Who is your favorite Sesame Street character? Elmo's a Sesame Street character, right? Yes. Elmo. He's the cutest. Why do you like Elmo, just because he's the cutest? Yeah, he's so adorable.
Hats or no hats? I don't have a preference.
Morning or night? Night. I'm a night owl. Any reason? That's how I've always been. I'm not a morning person at all. I don't like getting up, but I'll stay up late, I'm a night person.
Peanut Butter: Crunchy or creamy? Neither, I really hate peanut butter. Really? Are you allergic or you just don't like how it tastes? I've never even had peanut butter, it's just something about the smell, I guess. So you don't have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? I've never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Oh my gosh. Wow! No peanut butter and fluff? Reese's peanut butter cups? Okay, I lied. I've had peanut butter before, but I don't like it.
Favorite Season? Summer, my birthday. Any other reasons you like Summer, besides your birthday? Because, it's nice out. You don't have to a whole bunch of layers. I don't like being cold and hot I can deal with. Spring, I don't like. Spring's not that bad, because it's not as hot as Summer, but I have my allergies, so it makes it worse. Summer is just my happy place.
Who's your favorite Family Guy character? Stewie. Why Stewie? He's hilarious. He's an evil little child. It's funny.
