What's Up with the Wildcats Charles Armstrong-Hicks
Full Name: Charles Byron Armstrong-Hicks
Sport: Cross Country
Birthday: January 29, 1993
Hometown: Windsor, CT. It's right above Hartford
High School: Windsor
Year: First Year. I graduate 2015.
Major: Social work for right now. That's what I intend to do.
Nickname: Amongst my friends was Charlie, Chuck and amongst my football coach was Hicks. That's pretty much what he called me. Hicks and Hit 'Em Hicks at one point.
What do you like most about Wheelock? The people here. Everyone's pretty friendly, pretty open.
Where is your favorite place on campus? Besides just being in my room and relaxing, I would say probably the cafeteria, because I like food.
What is your favorite sports team? I'm an Eagles fan. It's kind of tough being an Eagles fan right now. Yeah, what happened to them this year? I don't know what happened, but hopefully they can get it back together. How did you become an Eagles fan? Probably back in sixth of seventh grade my best friend was also an Eagles fan, so kind of like adopted the whole thing with the Eagles. I think it was like the year that they played the Patriots in the Super Bowl and they lost to the Patriots, who cheated.
Who is your favorite athlete? I couldn't really say that I have a favorite athlete.
What is something that most people don’t know about you? Probably the way that I think. That I'm very analytical person. That I think a lot. Other than that, what people most know about me that hang around me a lot is probably my work ethic. Everything that I did, even football. I got the Warriors Pride Award for football which has to do with a lot of work ethic. Back in my junior year, I tore the ligaments in my shoulder about the second or third week of football and I didn't know what happened, so I just kept playing on my shoulder. Every time I would hit someone, the bigger they were, the harder I hit them. It would numb my right arm. I had no idea what was going on. I would play for like a week and be out for a couple days and play for a week and be out a couple days. It was like in and out. By the time we got to the end of the season after 10 games, I missed the last two weeks. I missed all of my senior year.
Where is your favorite vacation spot? I actually don't go on vacations, but my favorite place that I went so far this summer ws Sleeping Giant State Park is right across from Quinipiac. Two of my good friends and I climbed to the top of the mountain and after the top there's a hundred yards down from the highest point. You can see Quinipiac and everything. It's really cool up there. The woods are really, really rough. It's really fun.
What accomplishment are you most proud of in your sport? Of all my sports? Yes. I would probably say the Warrior Pride Award, because that takes a lot of effort to obtain that. During my injury, most of my coaches didn't know what was going on. When you play football you don't say something about your injury. You just keep on playing, you keep on hitting no matter what. Then again, I got the Tennis Tomahawk Award, which also has to do with work ethic. That means a lot to me.
What is your favorite holiday? I don't really celebrate holidays. I mean there's Christmas and everything and Valentine's Day and all that, but I'm I'm not really a big holiday person. Every day is a holiday.
Bacon bits or croutons? I didn't expect that question. Croutons I'd say are probably the best. Bacon's good with croutons. What's the reason you like croutons over bacon bits? I have no idea, probably because I'd come home and just munch on croutons.
Would you rather live in a log cabin or downtown? I would say downtown. I don't think I could deal with a log cabin. Just the smell of wood every day. I don't think I could deal with that.
What does community service mean to you? Community service is volunteer work. Anything that you can do to help somebody. Have you done any community service in the past? Yeah, I've done a ton of community service in the past. I was with a group called Key Club that did community service. I was with a group called Interact I think my freshman or sophomore year. I did community service with them. I did bits of community service here and there. I did a blood drive with the Red Cross.
Do you have any pets? No, I wish, but my Mom is allergic to dogs.
What is your favorite movie or movies? There's a lot of funny movies out there. Like, "Get 'Em to the Greek", that was a really funny movie. I couldn't really say that I have one favorite movie. I like comedies, because I liked to laugh.
What is your favorite artist or band? Let's go down by genres. As far as hip hop goes, I would say Lupe Fiasco. Maybe not right now, but like back before he was like run by the industry. As far as electric genre, it's kind of hard to tell. I would say that my favorite genre is electric genre, because that's actually what I do. I actually make music. The thing about electronic music is that it doesn't matter what artist it is. You don't have to know who the artist is if it's a good song, it's a good song.
Favorite pre-game song to get pumped up? I'd probably say that back in football, that would be "Ante Up" with M.O.P. and Busta Rhymes. That's probably the song. Especially I would say for my sophomore year.
Pepsi or Coke? I don't drink either. What do you prefer to drink instead? I don't drink soda. All I've been drinking is powerade, actually.
Favorite Cereal? Raisin Bran Crunch.
What is your favorite city or town? Boston. Why Boston? Because everything is here pretty much. You're like your own individual. It's just a lively community. Everyone is outside all the time. There's always something going on or something to do. Where's your favorite place in Boston? The Charles River, actually, at about 6-6:15 in the morning. That's gorgeous. I love that place.
What is your favorite ice cream? Black Cherry. Who makes that? I want to say Bolthouse Farms, but I could be wrong.
If it could rain something other than rain, what would it rain? Money would be awesome.
Who is your favorite Sesame Street character? I don't think I've ever watched Sesame Street. I probably did as a kid, but I probably don't remember watching Sesame Street.
Hats or no hats? Depends on if I'm going out somewhere with friends or something like that or if my hair's messy.
Morning or night? I would say early morning. Everything is really nice and lit up. I would say at night time either when it's sunset or when the stars are out.
Peanut Butter: Crunchy or creamy? I would say creamy, I don't like crunchy. Why creamy? I don't think I've ever liked crunchy. I think peanut butter is meant to be smooth.
Favorite Season? I would say spring, because it's not too hot and it's not too cold. It's comfortable.
Who's your favorite Family Guy character? Stewie. He's hilarious. My Mom hates him because he's so bad. He's hilarious.
