What's Up with the Wildcats Cara McAuliffe

Year: Junior

Major: Human Development and American Studies, Five-year Child Life Program.  I’ve always wanted to work in hospitals with children. 

What do you like most about Wheelock? I like the small community.  I went to a really big high school, so the fact that it’s a small community, I really like that.  How do you feel about it being located in Boston?  I really like that as well, I’m from New Hampshire.  There’s not much city life.

Where is your favorite place on campus?  I like my room.

What is your favorite sports team?  I don’t really watch professional sports, but definitely with this past year, the Bruins.

Who is your favorite athlete?  I don’t think I really have one, but I feel like I should say Tom Brady, because if I don’t my Mom would be mad.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?  I really, really like to cook.  What do you really like to cook?  I bake a lot, but I like making people meals, like stir-frys and stuff.  What do you like to bake?  Any type of pies, cupcakes, cheesecakes. 

Where is your favorite vacation spot?  I really like the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  I like North Woodstock, that’s where I really like to go.  I like to ski too.  My favorite resort is Bretton Woods.

What accomplishment are you most proud of in your sport?  I think that last year with lacrosse, getting our first win in the final game of the season was a huge accomplishment of ours.  We worked really hard for that.

What is your favorite holiday?  That’s a really hard one.  Christmas I guess, I like the winter.

Bacon bits or croutons?  Neither.  Do you put anything on your salad?  It’s usually just lettuce and carrots.

Would you rather live in a log cabin or downtown?  Probably downtown.  I like having the accessibility of everything around me.

What does community service mean to you?  I think it means that even if you’re not within your own community like Boston, just going out and helping people in the country, the world, just making their lives easier, if that’s what they need or just working together.

Do you have any pets?  I have a dog and two cats.  My dog is named Bear and is a lhasa apso.  My cats are named Lucy and Marley.

What is your favorite movie or movies? Zoolander is definitely my favorite movie.  I’ve always loved Zoolander.  

What is your favorite artist or band?  Kanye West.  Why Kanye?  I don’t know, ever since his first album came out, I’ve always just really liked his music.  Do you have a favorite song by Kanye?  I do, I have a lot, probably Celebration.

Favorite pre-game song to get pumped up?  I don’t know if it’s just one song.  I usually just listen to a lot of Beyonce.  Why Beyonce? She has like a lot of songs that range from like ballads to upbeat pop music.  She’s just a really good singer.

Pepsi or Coke?  Neither, I don’t drink soda.  What do you prefer to drink?  I drink a lot of iced tea and juice.

Favorite Cereal?  Lucky Charms.  Because they’re magically delicious?  Basically, I really like the marshmallows.

What is your favorite city or town?  New Orleans.  It’s just a really beautiful city.  I’ve been going down there volunteering for the past four years.  In high school I was going there through Habitat for Humanity and since I’ve come here it’s been through the Saint Bernard Project.

What is your favorite ice cream?  Strawberry soft serve from Coneheads in North Woodstock, NH with strawberry sprinkles.

How many foreign countries have you been to?  Just one, Mexico.  I went to Cancun for vacation from when I was 9-12.  I’m going back this spring.

If it could rain something other than rain, what would it rain?  This is a hard one.  I don’t know.  I guess, chocolate milk.

Who is your favorite Sesame Street character?  Cookie Monster, because of that song, “C is for Cookie”.  My name starts with a “C” so I used to change it to C is for Cara when I was little.

Hats or no hats?  No hats.  I’ve just never worn hats, at least not for a very, very long time.

Morning or night?  I’m a morning person by force.  I have to practice every morning. 

Peanut Butter: Crunchy or creamy?  Creamy.  I don’t eat nuts.

Favorite Season?  Fall.  I like the weather, the change and my birthday.

Favorite Family Guy character?  Stewie, because he’s so bratty and so smart for a little baby.
